The Phonologie du français contemporain project (PFC) is a massive multinational project aiming to make corpus data for different varieties of French available. As the goal was to facilitate the comparison of regional varieties, the protocol is stable across survey points. There are two tasks eliciting read speech (a word list and a passage, designed to verify phonemic inventories) and two more eliciting spontaneous speech in two different social contexts (an informal discussion and a formal one). In each area, in order to enable apparent time analyses, three age groups of speakers have been selected, in addition to ensuring that both male and female speakers are surveyed for each age group.
