The English Intonation in the British Isles Project (IViE), predecessor of the OXIGEN Project, provides a corpus of 36 hours of speech with prosodic transcriptions for a subset of the data of about 4 hours. The data offers data from nine urban varieties of English: London, Cambridge, Cardiff, Liverpool, Bradford, Leeds, Newcastle, Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Dublin (Republic of Ireland). The speakers are all adolescents and were recorded in several speech contexts, which are spontaneous conversations between pairs of participants who know each other, goal-oriented interactions (an adapted version of the Map Task), story telling from memory, passage reading, and reading phonetically controlled sentences.
